Might have had something to do with the alternator bouncing off the inner fender due to 2 broken motor mounts??? This was a 70's 318 2bbl that had no oil pressure and a good rod knock - damm thing would not die.
That's why they use 318's & slant-6's on those stupid "look the motor runs with no oil!" Slick50 infomercials - no shit *asshole* they'll do that from the factory without the whale spooge!, Any grimer or qualified WT mechanic can tell you oil and cooland are optional equipment on Mopar engines, try that with a Ford and you'll have a locked up 500lb chunk of iron.
